do you start out with something in mind and try to go for that sound? or do you just start fooling around and see what comes out? or both?

I work with a plan most of the time for the melodie and the vibe of a composition. I always have a melody and a raw idea of what sounds i should use.

As it turns out, the sounds i use from the synths are always different from what i planned.I hardly use presets so i spend a lot of time on programming. I learned you just cant force your ideas from a machine. It doesnt work that way.

Making beats is the most timeconsuming part of the proces for me.

I have a mini tape recorder, on which I sing anything, from a bassline to some lyrics, beats, technical ideas...
Being a beginner, when I'll know how to use correctly my equipment, I'll try to approach my wants.

Although, sometimes I let a sound influence me. I.E. One day I was playing with this sound I heard and I made a whole song based off of that sound.
