I've had one for years but it's being fixed at the moment. If you have 16 MB or more of ram in it you should be able to load a good piano sample. The stock sample rom is very small by todays standards, so you will need a bigger and better piano set if you want it to sound "real".

I have 32 ram memory so that shouldnt be a problem.

THE 3.87 LATEST EPROM CHIPS WILL ALLOW UP TO 64 MEGS OF RAM, AND YOU CAN LOAD UP TO 1OOO SOUNDS AT ONCE, OF COURSE YOU MAY RUN OUT OF SAMPLE TIME, GIVE OR TAKE HOW MUCH THE SAMPLE IS TAKIN UP IN SECONDS...YOU AVE AN ORDER IN WHICH THE BANK LOADS THE SOUNDS WHICH BEGINS WITH "PROGRAM 200 TO 299, ETC. ERASE THE BANK THAT HAS THE SAME NAMES AS SOUNDS YOU ARE TRYIN TO LOAD, THAT WAY YOU DON'T GET CONFUSED AS TO WHICH SOUND YOU ARE USING.......I MAY END UP STARTING A "TECH CLINIC" ON HOW TO USE THE K2000........HMM.

IN FACT ALOT OF PROJECTS THAT I DID WITH NATURE LOVE AND THE DJ QUAD PROJECTS ON NITELIFE AND HIPBONE RECORDS, I PIMPED THE K2000 TO THE MAX AND STILL HAD ROOM TO DO OTHER THINGS WITH IT

I have one k2 and one k25 and love em both...filters are incredible but do yourself a favor...get as much ram as you can and get yourself a cdrom for it. Those internals are the crappiest things i've ever heard. Most people dump this thing because they never get a clue.
Buy yourself some cd roms and you'll be as happy as a pig in doo doo.

some good sound sites are:

sonik matter (loads of quality sounds...you just have to sift through em)

synthzone

oh damn i forgot the rest ...as I remember i'll put em up

peace

peace What kind of cdroms do you suggest??? I realy dont know what to look for.
I dont think the internal sounds are bad though,, with some tweaking and fx i can get some good sounds from it. I think Mad Mike from Underground Resistance is a heavy K2000 user,, ive heard 5 presets already.

Hey ya'll I am also K2000, 2500 & 2600 user
since 1993 and still use the sh@# out of em and have many many sounds for it the good thing is that it reads Roland, Akai, EPS ensoniq. IF you are on a Mac You can also use a program called CD extractor to Export and Import various sound file formats such as wave, aiff, SDII, kurz, akai etc
Look into it. Any questions feel free to ask I'll be glad to help
