Being a new user of Reason, I'm having difficulties to understand how to articulate the synth device to get new sounds.

By any God-given luck, I found some great sounds, but I really don't find ways to escape from a particular range of sounds.

I'd like to propose something : why not make a DHP mailing list, and each week, someone sends to the other affiliated DHPers some synth patches containing particular sounds, and next week it's someone else. It's not file sharing I'm talking about, but more to open other producers to new and unknown parts of the work.(FXs, house and garage sounds, synth drumd...)

I don't know if it's really interesting for most of you, but working the synth almost 3 hours by day, I can't get off those same sounds. And for this reason I can't figure how the synth device is usefull...

Are you interested in the idea ?

make sure you check this out:

http://www.propellerheads.se/download/refills/index.cfm?fuseaction=get_article&article=free_refills

a very nice commercial refill package: Zero-G creative essentials... some old tired stuff, but also lots of very usefull stuff...

http://www.zero-g.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=496

the zero-G total dance refill is also nice:

and of course non-refill sample-CD's can be used.....stuff like e-lab nu-directions is very usefull for (deep)house:

LOL, don't cry! ;)

i must say that often i take preset sounds and modify them to my liking inside a reason file....so i don't save them as seperate patches...
