Materielle takes place on the last Saturday of every month at Public Life (one of London's more unique venues: a modern bar in a converted Victorian underground public washroom).
October saw our busiest event yet, with Andre and MUDD (Big Bear/Akwaaba) throwing down two hours of house & disco the way they do it. these DJs play in rotation at The Phoenix's Bear Sessions (contact us for more info) - entries in the guestbook included some very positive responses to the music they presented. thanks to all who attended.

Materielle's 6th month of running is marked by the appearance a special guest from Chicago, DJ Dave Gandy.
Dave's musical knowledge, skill and personality shine through with each deck excursion. having performed at Chicago's premier venues, he has held residencies at Crobar, Glow, Buzz, Fusion and Harry's Velvet Room. Dave has also had numerous guest appearances alongside Chicago favourites Mark Farina, Diz, Derrick Carter, Heather, Cajmere, DJ Sneak and DJ Gemini.
Dave developed his vision within House music while organising the Substance parties around Chicago with Andy Substance, Spencer Kincy AKA Gemini, Derrick Carter and Mark Farina - between 1988 and 1993. the Substance events were one of a precious few where enthusiasts would come to be entertained and where 'industry' did not dictate what was heard.
Dave's admiration for new & less travelled sounds has helped him to gather a unique collection of classic disco and rare groove as well as influential modern house, acid tracks and jazz n groove.
