Materielle takes place on the last Saturday of every month at Public Life (one of London's more unique venues: a modern bar in a converted Victorian underground public washroom).

at September's event we gave over the tables to Cedric Lassonde (Voices) and Ben Williams (Reckless), who's sets took us on an exotic diversion through many forms and eras of dance music, sometimes fresh-sounding, other times familiar, all the time irresistible. Jorge's energetic dose of live percussion married the music to the room and the party. thanks to all those who made it (you made it!) and got loose.

guest DJ's on Saturday October 26 will be Andre and MUDD, on loan from Bear Sessions@The Phoenix. the name gives clues to the team's involvement in labels including Big Bear/Bear Entertainment, Session, Discfunction (home to the Idjut Boys), Noid and Nuphonic.

Andre DJs regularly for the Session records collective and has played at venues ranging from The Top in San Fransico to his local boozer. having originally cut his teeth organising free parties on the south coast of England, he regularly spins at parties and bars around London and helps promote the Bear Sessions. Andre is also working on an album project with Tom Lee from Akwaaba.

Paul aka MUDD formed Akwaaba in 1994 with Tom Lee and Steve Kotey, who started out by making the Phlox EP which was released on Discfunction. 'Just Pilau' became their most successful record to date, being licensed by Francois Kervorkian and Ron Trent for compilation albums. then followed recordings on Session Records, long-players 'Do It Tomorrow' and 'Too Shiny', not forgetting remixes for Strut, Session, Tummy Touch and Bear Entertainment. MUDD is the name for Paul's solo project, taking on re-edits for Big Bear as well as preparing a new album set to feature Chico Hamilton, and Bob Klose from Pink Floyd.

join us on the 26th for a further expansion of the Materielle sound... smile.gif

Would have liked to catch this, but I only just saw your post. Been curious about where those Big Bear edits have been coming from!

I'll try and make it down in November if I can... smile.gif
