I was wondering why aren't there more peeps from Detroit posting on the board??
Beatdownsounds.com never took off properly, it's only 4-5 people here on DHP (I think).
I got into a deep discussion with Wilhite about Detroit's history & evolvement with dance music & the house/techno scene...
Do peeps from the D go to this site? http://www.detroithousemusic.com
I haven't check this site. But I will later on. peace

i didn't check out the site beyond the home page. but i would advise against thomas barnett. souldega, on the other hand, are a good crew of guys and girls. they play a bit clubbier or west coast than other djs, but i would recommend going to any of their events. they bring in good guests, and are very professional about their nights.
there needs to be more of an online presence for detroit's house community. or am i missing boards or lists that already exist?
i find out about house events primarily from flyers and word of mouth.

i find out about house events primarily from flyers and word of mouth. I would agree with lurdja... except that I like Souldega even less. They are really big on Kaskade/Miguel Migs/westcoast-progressive sound made for 'superclubs'. I need something with more heart and soul, hence, the reason that I am here at DHP.
Cordell - we only have 4-5 househeads in Detroit! We are all on DHP! LOL...

if there was more house going on in detroit then there would be more posts. The only real thing other than small loft parties would be organic, and i believe they are the only other people to post

The DHP isn't that well known in Detroit, plus their are other places to post that cater to the Detroit audience.
The scene in Detroit for House(and Techno) has shrank over the last few years, many of the major names have moved or don't play too many shows in Detroit. Why play here when you can play in Europe for the Big Money? Especially since Motor closed, the scene has fragmented into alot of smaller clubs with mainly local DJs. Which is cool but there is no big name week in/out to really draw people on a continual basis.
So it's tough all over, most parties I have been too in the last year have been lucky to draw crowds of 200. When Joe Clausell played here 2 weks ago, I don't think there could have been much more then that. Same thing for Lil' Louis a week later.
We have hope, the scene has started to grow again, but it's gonna take some promoters/club owners with guts, money and smarts along with Djs/producers making it big but staying commited to Detroit to really help the scene grow.
We got the talent, now we just need the marketing I guess. I'll try to start posting Detroit party info and websites
