Whoa! I had no idea up until this past Friday 1/24/02 that Detroit offered such a cool spot to explore my passion for deep house music (Hunter House). After viewing the Beatdown Sounds website, I was able to find what I was looking for. Prior to that, I was beginning to feel that I couldn't wait to get back to Atlanta as I am from there. Don't get it twisted...Atlanta has is shortcomings where deep house is concerned too except for MJQ Concourse on Saturday's. Man!! Talk about dancing two hours straight. Anyway, the guys from Beatdown Sounds really changed my perception of the house scene in Detroit a great deal. The music was sooo damn good, the atmosphere was perfect (small, dimly lit, and quaint), and the people were official by my standards; go figure (no fur coat, gator shoe wearing, big baller brothers with sisters running behind them). You know, some Detroiters are notorious for that. Let me not forget, the price was right..$7.
As luck would have it, I have to go back to Atlanta this week anyway. But the next time I'm in Detroit, Hunter House will be my first stop. I only hope the Beatdown Sounds brothers will still be there. If not, I'll just have to find them...lol.
