Whatever happened to Bill Hardy who was posting here and said he had some of Ron's reels?
there is an e.p. called (i think) "the music box" that has about 7 or 8 cuts. songs that were big ron tunes and a couple of re-edits (at least that's what the new release sheet said-although you can never trust what those guys write on those damn things). the sleeve is black and has "music box" written all over in white.
i forgot to mention that that particular e.p. just came out a couple of weeks ago, so it shouldn't be that hard to find. if any of you have a hard time finding it, hit me up and i'll try and order one for you.

the sleeve is as described by Kevin, The label has a reel-to-reel on one side and says "Full 12" Mixes and Re-edits" "Influential classics played at Chicago's legendary club, which laid the foundation for todays dance music scene"
the tracks are listed on the other side:
-Put Etre
-On And On
-Leatherette
-Diskimo
-Rappinghood
-Doghnut Dog
-Sampling Dance
-Powerpill
Ron Hardy is not mentioned anywhere on the record so I assume the tracks that are edited have been edited by someone else to sound similar to the edits played by Ron Hardy.

I got this last week too...
There are 2 long mixes and 2 short mixes on each side.
The re-edits are more re-mixes in places, with loops being brough in from other tracks and a fair bit of reworking, although as far as I can tell "Doughnut Dog" is untouched.
The re-edit/remix of "On and On" is an ace, stripped out builder, but really badly pressed.
The remix of Rappinghood is probably the highlight.
It is most definately a dodgy bootleg as far as I can tell, and designed to cash in on the Music Box logo as much as anything, but it's a bit different and good-n-raw (as I like it) ;)
Interesting to see what anyone who's actually been to the Music Box makes of this...

Roy Davis jr. gave me back in day. He said he pressed 2 copies on thee sneak tip when he worked @ Trax Records. SHHHHHHHHHHHH...you didn't here that from me...
I also got a tape w/ Ron Hardy edits that my cousin gave me waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in thee day There is this one edit of a Fingers Inc. track called "your mine" which came out on Dj. As far as Ron Hardy edits & reels, I know Terrance (sp) has some if not most of them. There are probably a few others hidden in peoples' collections.

This is the one with the Flirts sample mixed with one of the Faces drum tracks, plus a THICK, bass-heavy drum sample underneath & the female "Your mind, your mind.....UHHHHHH!!", with tons of echo & effects.... could this be it?
It's on a Ron mix in the archive (can't remember which, but it's an old one--posted at least 3-4 years ago) if you wanna dig it up---he plays it after "Ease Your Mind", if that helps.

There is also a 2nd Music Box ep out now here's the rundown from my local store:
EMC02 - Seven tracks of mad European(ish) proto-techno as played by Ron Hardy at Chicago's hugely influential Muzic Box club in the early 80s. Liaisons Dangereuses "Los Ninos Del Parque", Neon "Neon", "Charivari", Liquid Liquid "Optimo", "Die Dominas", Kraftwerk "Telephone Call (Francois K Remix)" and "Tour De France". As a collection of techno influences, they don't come more definitive than this!
both these ep's are the shit, don't care if they are originals, edits, re-edits or remixes, it's all good.
just wanted to add that the third ep just hit the stores overhere in Belgium...(as mentioned in the other topic on this subject..)

What the most obscure and unavaible edit Ron ever did?
Did he ever re-edit stuff that he never actually played out, just for fun? I'd love to hear that shit! Maybe he might hear a song on the radio and think "I wouldn't play that out but i'm gonna re-edit it anyway" - maybe a ballad like "Three times a lady"? Even shit he didn't even like - now that would be deep man!
Also did he do any rock re-edits of bands like Boston or Journey?
they have the 3 volumes at Hard To Find Records (http://www.htfr.com) ..I bought records there before, and they do good service..
