Good stuff. I lost a lot of my tapes during this time. I remember Julian Perez was single-handedly holding it down and then they brought Bad Boy Bill onboard. Every Friday and Saturday night was such a treat!

You know, I forgot about that about Julian. I had a car stolen in 88 and lost a bunch of WBMX tapes--I hope those bast*rds got some use out of those. Of course, that was stupid of me to carry them all around without copies. Maybe they'll be considerate enough to post them here.

I do believe I have the very first B96 Julian tapes, but I'll have to check.

Sorry to hear about the break-in. Those tapes are probably long gone

I used to have the early Julian stuff at one point, but stupidly recorded over them. I wish I had not done that! I remember he used to play a lot of commercial stuff in the beginning like Samantha Fox' "I Wanna Have Some Fun" and her remake of "I Only Wanna Be With You" plus Tone Loc "Wild Thing." He would cut them up with 2 copies, however, making it fresh. Aaah, those were the days ...

Great stuff!
didn't realise Debbie Gibson's 'Electric Youth (Deep House mix)' @ 38mins had the same bassline as Armando's 'World Unknown'.

Good observation Virgo--I should have picked up on that.

MJ, I read somewhere that the Hot Mix 5 guys would record over their tapes to do their shows. Obviously, they probably didn't realize how legendary their mixes would become.
